Trams were a popular mode of transportation in Australia from their inception in the 1920s until the 1970s. Yet just because they’re out of style doesn’t mean that these old vehicles don’t still have value.
That’s what Camp Kulning owner Angela, of Victoria, Australia, thought when she saw an abandoned tram in the woods. What she did with it has to be seen to be believed!
When an Australian woman named Angela came across an abandoned tram car in the woods, she knew she had to restore it. Trams were a popular mode of transportation between the 1920s and 1970s, but soon after went out of style.
These vehicles once helped people travel through Australian cities.
Angela thought that she could transform the tram into something special, despite its condition.
It took two years, but Angela finally turned the tram into a fully-functional cabin with a warm stove, a bedroom for two, and vintage furniture.
In order to retain the tram’s rustic look and old-fashioned design, Angela kept much of the weathered paint.
The bedroom definitely looks like an old-timey sleeper car.
The car features numerous items from days of old, like croquet mallets. There’s ample space outside to use them, too!
The property also offers a few small sheds and a renovated camper. Though the camper was purchased by Angela, the sheds, much like the tram, needed a lot of work.
This shed was transformed into a tiki bar!
It doesn’t get much better when you need a place to stay on a rainy day!
It wouldn’t be the same without the bartending flamingo and pineapple tumblers!
There’s also a perfect spot to light a campfire! It wouldn’t truly be a camping adventure without a fire pit.
The cabin, which surprisingly doesn’t look out of place in the woods, has the brilliant name of “Jean-Claude van Tram.”
There’s a great view of the area in this 360 degree photograph. It almost looks like its own planet, with the camper, sheds, and tram along the edges.
The tram holds up to eight people, so you and your friends or family can stay for just $30 per person, per night!
It’s truly incredible how some people are able to use such creativity and craftsmanship to bring out the best in even the oldest, most run-down buildings. Clearly, all that hard work paid off!
