Locksmith Cracks Open An Old Safe And Finds Literal Treasure Inside

We all have certain possessions that we hold dear to us. Whether they have a deep personal meaning, or perhaps they’re a gift given to us by someone special in our life, those items cannot be replaced. In the unfortunate event that your home is the target of a robbery, it’s important to ensure you’ve done what you can to keep those items locked away and safe.

Vaults may seem like a great way to do just that, but any locksmith will tell you that with a bit of skill and some luck, they can easily be broken into. Sometimes, though, a safecracker is just what you need to find out what’s been hiding in that old vault when its owner can’t be found.

When an old steel vault was discovered, a locksmith, who goes by the name “Unkapier on Imgur,” was contracted to use his skills to get to whatever mystery prize lay inside. When he finally opened it up, he was shocked to see what it contained…

When an old vault, built by the notoriously impenetrable Mosler Safe Company many years ago, was discovered, a safe cracker by the name of “Unkapier” was hired for the nearly impossible task of getting inside.

Mosler’s reputation for building impenetrable safes garnered numerous high-profile contracts. The company manufactured doors for missile silos and even built the vault once used to display the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

Unkapier gathered his safe cracking tools, and first started to work on the vault’s solid brass combination dial.

Although Unkapier was able to open the vault door with minimal fuss, the way he did it still remains a mystery. (Much like a magician, a locksmith never reveals his secrets…)

Unkapier may have used weak-point drilling to get inside, but the ease at which he did it suggests he may have eventually worked out the combination.

After Unkapier stripped away the vaults red metal panel, he found the lock mechanisms, which were still surprisingly sturdy and reliable.

There were several numbers etched into the door as well. Were they the try-out combination? Unkapier couldn’t be sure.

After Unkapier got the initial door open, he came across a second door behind it, which was locked. Unkapier realized that the actual volume of the vaults interior was not nearly as big as he had originally thought.

Being the professional locksmith he is, Unkapier got the second door open quickly. He found several drawers which looked ideal to hold items such as jewelry, important documents or other treasured keepsakes.

Unkapier took a photo of the lock he removed from the vault for readers to admire. Such intricate craftsmanship!

Inside the safe, Unkapier found a few hundred dollars in cash and coins. But, there was something very interesting about the cash: the majority of it was in two-dollar bills, the rarest of U.S. currency. After Unkapier removed all the money, however, the mystery of vault had quickly come to an end.

Unkapier wouldn’t divulge any information on the vaults previous owners, much to the dismay of readers.

It’s fascinating to see what someone locked away for protection many years ago.
