If you’ve ever been unemployed, you know how frustrating and disheartening it is to try to get out of that rut. Sometimes, to finally move forward, you need to do something drastic.
That’s what happened to Patrick Schmidt after he quit his job in California. The young adventurer bought a beat up 1990 school bus from a church, drove it to his parents’ Las Vegas home, and set about building something truly extraordinary.
In his old life, Patrick was working so much that he was never in his apartment. He desperately needed a change of pace.
After calling it quits with his job and his landlord, Patrick bought a bus from a local church and named it “Big Blue.” This, he decided, would be his new home.
After removing the seats from the bus, Patrick and his father certainly had their work cut out for them.
They had a lot of cleaning up to do!
Patrick and his father made a great team.
They certainly seem to know their way around construction!
But they couldn’t have done it without the help of Patrick’s mother. She was on hand to provide drinks, snacks, and moral support for her hardworking husband and son.
Patrick made sure that his new home was fully equipped with everything he would need — including air conditioning!
This home doesn’t run on gasoline alone. In lieu of traditional electricity sources, the Schmidt family installed solar panels on the roof.
After building this great new mobile home, Patrick permanently moved in and can now freely explore the continental United States at his leisure.
Patrick and his father worked hard for three months to get the home in good shape.
The bus is lined with unobtrusive purple LED lights to give the place a comfortable, cool, and modern vibe.
The bathroom is a bit of a tight squeeze, but with a door, a towel rack, a shower, and a toilet, what more do you really need?
Patrick claims that after moving over 20 times since he was born, he finally feels at “home” on this bus.
And with this table and some nice seats, he could even invite a few friends over for a visit!
It’s amazing how Patrick was with the right tools, a solid plan, and of course, lots of hard work. After all, with your family and friends behind you, you can accomplish anything!
